“When we developed the Pixel Bearing together with CLYW, we did not simply want to create another concave bearing. The idea was to keep the string reliably centred while still giving it enough freedom to move during complex tricks.
That led to the unusual 8-step profile. I particularly like the difference during fast combos with several string layers inside the gap: the strings can still make small adjustments instead of being locked into one deep groove. For me, that still makes the Pixel Bearing one of the most interesting upgrades for a good unresponsive YoYo.”
Developed by iYoYo x CLYW → a collaborative bearing design created specifically for modern string tricks
Unique 8-step profile → eight small steps guide the string towards the centre of the bearing
Centres the string without locking it in place → individual string layers can still make small adjustments during complex combos
Made for modern unresponsive YoYos → standard Size C for many current string-trick and competition YoYos
Many string-centering YoYo bearings use a simple concave shape or a pronounced groove in the centre. This works very well for keeping the string away from the sides of the bearing.
With the Pixel Bearing, we took a different approach together with CLYW. The outer race uses eight small steps descending from both sides towards the centre.
This still guides the string towards the middle, but without simply locking it into one deep central groove.
Advanced tricks often place several string segments next to each other on the bearing at the same time. This is where the Pixel profile becomes particularly interesting.
The individual string layers can micro-adjust and move slightly past each other across the stepped surface. At the same time, the profile generally keeps the string away from the edges of the bearing, reducing unnecessary contact with the YoYo halves.
The result is a bearing that combines string centering with freedom of movement – especially useful for fast, technical string tricks and long combos.
Size: C / Large Bearing
Compatible with many modern unresponsive YoYos using a standard Size C bearing seat.
