“IMAGiNATiON is special to me because the original idea came directly from our community. Lukas Wilke taught himself how to design YoYos in CAD at just 14 years of age and eventually sent me a shape where it was immediately obvious that there was real potential.
After several refinements and two prototypes, that idea became our new flagship. And it plays just as exciting as the story behind it: very wide, extremely catchable, powerful – yet surprisingly fast and light on the string. These are exactly the kind of projects I love.”

Wide – without feeling sluggish

At 50.48 mm wide, IMAGiNATiON is the widest bimetal we have ever produced at iYoYo. More width primarily means a larger catch zone, making it easier to hit the string during fast hops, risky mounts and complex trick sequences.

But width can also become a disadvantage if the YoYo starts feeling slow or difficult to control. That is why the main focus with IMAGiNATiON was finding the right balance between catchability, speed and control.

The result feels surprisingly light on the string and moves very quickly through technical sequences while maintaining the stability you expect from a modern competition YoYo.

6061 aluminum + stainless-steel rings

The body is made from 6061 aluminum and combined with stainless-steel weight rings. This construction moves a significant amount of mass toward the outer rims, creating strong spin reserves and excellent stability on the string.

Especially during long combos, that weight distribution helps IMAGiNATiON retain plenty of power even later in the spin.

From a 3D print to an iYoYo flagship

There is a special story behind IMAGiNATiON. The original concept was developed together with Lukas Wilke, a young German YoYo player with a strong interest in technology, design and science.

Lukas has participated in “Jugend forscht”, Germany’s well-known youth science competition, several times and spent one summer teaching himself how to design YoYos in CAD. His first shapes were turned into 3D-printed prototypes at a youth research center.

At some point, he sent Dave a message along the lines of: “I think I have a really interesting shape here.” And he did.

Of course, the concept still needed significant refinement before CNC production. A 3D print can show whether a shape and basic idea work, but it cannot fully reproduce the weight distribution and performance of a precision-machined metal YoYo.

After several adjustments and two prototypes, it became clear that the concept worked. What started as an idea from within the community eventually became the new iYoYo flagship.

IMAGiNATiON is a great example of what the YoYo community is all about: making an impact does not always happen on the competition stage. Sometimes it starts at a computer, inside a CAD program or with a 3D printer – and eventually ends up as a YoYo in the hands of players around the world.
