“We spent an unusually long time refining the shape and weight distribution of SONiC WAVE. The idea was to hit the sweet spot between the slimmer iCEBERG CLASSiC and the wider current iCEBERG while still creating something with its own character.
The result feels really unique. The internal stainless-steel rings deliver plenty of power and stability, while your hand mostly feels the CNC-machined polycarbonate body. Add the fingerspin zone and you get a hybrid that is fast, controllable and still seriously powerful.”

Why internal stainless-steel rings?

SONiC WAVE places its stainless-steel weight rings on the inside rather than around the outer edge. This unusual construction strongly shapes the way the YoYo feels: nearly everything your hand touches is CNC-machined polycarbonate.

That keeps the smooth, distinctive feel of a plastic throw while the stainless-steel rings add significantly more power and stability.

The sweet spot between two iCEBERGs

SONiC WAVE was deliberately designed to sit between the slimmer iCEBERG CLASSiC and the much wider current iCEBERG.

At 44.05 mm wide, it offers a generous catch zone without feeling excessively wide. This makes it easy to control during fast combos and quick direction changes.

More prototypes than usual

SONiC WAVE went through an unusually large number of prototypes while we repeatedly refined its shape, weight and weight distribution. The curved internal stainless-steel rings in particular had to be tuned carefully so that stability and power would not come at the expense of speed and dynamics.

Part of the inspiration came from the classic YoYoJam Shockwave, one of our favorite throws from earlier years.

Fingerspin zone + competition setup

SONiC WAVE features a dedicated fingerspin zone for modern tricks such as DNA.

It is paired with our string-centering Pixel Bearing and proven iRiNGS Response Pads. The bearing helps keep the string centered, while the pads stay out of the way during long tricks and deliver reliable Binds when needed.
