“Nine Dragons is one of the very few YoYos where you can genuinely say: it enables tricks that simply do not work on a conventional YoYo. The outer shells spin freely around the actual YoYo core, allowing you to touch, hold or slide the YoYo across your hand and body while the center continues spinning.
It is heavier and more complex than a conventional performance YoYo, but that is not really the point. Nine Dragons is a playground for inventing new tricks – and that is why it remains so unique.”

A YoYo inside a YoYo

In simplified terms, Nine Dragons works on two separate levels. Inside is a conventional unresponsive performance YoYo, surrounded by freely rotating plastic shells.

When you touch or even hold the outer shell, the actual YoYo core can continue rotating inside.

That single mechanical difference opens an entirely new range of movements.

Tricks that practically did not exist before

You can slide Nine Dragons across your palm while it spins, grab and release it during rotation or develop transitions between traditional string tricks and body-contact elements.

That makes Nine Dragons less of a conventional competition YoYo and more of a trick platform of its own.

Still a real YoYo underneath the mechanism

Under the outer shells sits a proper unresponsive aluminum YoYo. Normal mounts, string tricks and Binds therefore still work as expected.

The shell system naturally adds weight and mechanical complexity – but that mechanism is exactly the reason Nine Dragons exists.
